Art Statement
I am a Visual Artist. I am a Painter, Illustrator, and sculptor who is living and working in Southern California. I studied Fine Art at Orange Coast College (OCC) in California, and I obtained a certificate of Achievement in Commercial Art-Narrative Illustration, a certificate of Achievement in Digital Media Arts and Design-Graphic Design, a certificate of Achievement in Digital Media Arts and Design-Digital Graphics Production, a certificate of Specialization in Web Design
As a figurative and portray Painter, I use paintings like a lens to view the world using oil, acrylic, and watercolors among others on Canvas, wood panels, and paper. I use traditional and modern techniques to transmit my feelings, thoughts, ideas, and opinions through lines, shapes, colors, texture, balance, movement, and rhythm.
My work is far from subtle because sometimes is bold, visceral, and at times evokes a keen sense of sadness or regret and they are based mostly all the time on stories that I lived or stories that people told me
My pieces portray the worldly sense that I have acquired through my travels in the different countries I have resided in over the years I never lack for commissions; however, I prefer to choose a person to do a portrait than a person who asks for it.
The artists I identify with are Caravaggio, Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Henri Matisse, Jose Clemente Orozco, Rufino Tamayo, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
